Imagine the perfect beach house filled with a group of kite surfers from all over the world. Add a whole lot of wind, beautiful blue warm waters, downwind 4x4 adventures, card games, trapeze acrobatics, great music, fish BBQ's, Caipirinhas, even a spit roasted goat! This was our adventure to De praia Brasil!
We were invited to check out the newest kite house "De praia Brasil" in Icarai de Amontada by our Argentinean friends Hernan Canabal and Luciano Romani. The house is built to host a big group of kiters so we rallied around our friends and got a gang ready to hit the road!
The location was perfect, right on the beach. Nothing like falling from your bed in the morning, taking a cup coffee to sit on the beach and watch coloured sails and kites out at sea.
As you can see the ladies liked to do just that! We had a rocking group of chica kiters Jessica Winkler (Liquid Force and Shinn Boards) Colleen Caroll (North) and Sensi Graves (Liquid Force) it was fab to discover a new spot with so many good female riders! We were accompanied by 4 gorgeous pro guys who were just as talented ;) Forrest Bakker (Clash Boards and Flexifoil) Julien Lelu (Airush and Clash Boards) Oliver Umpierre (Liquid Force) and Nick Hall (Liquid Force and Shinn Boards).
The spot at Icarai de Amontada is a huge bay. De praia Brasil is situated in the northern part which means there is a walk up the beach to launch due a wind shadow and off shore wind but those conditions make for perfect flat water sessions so no real complaints there!
It's not only kite surfers that love this spot. Icarai de Amontada has a long standing reputation as a great place to windsurf and is one of the few places we've kited where kiters and windsurfers share the water in harmony. We had great fun sharing flat water pools with a few of them, taking turns to do tricks and cheering each other on. Fingers crossed the locals manage to keep this peaceful vibe going long into the future!

The spot gets nice and shallow at low tide which give the water the electric blue colour normally saved for Caribbean Islands. The depth of the water also makes it that bit warmer, which is perfect as the winds are strong! The added heat means you can kite right until sunset without getting cold! We'll be bringing you more action soon!
