Kite kids - Coaching the next generation!

Every now and again you find yourself in just the right place at the right to meet someone incredible, that you will remember forever.

That is how it felt when I had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful little lady... Lisa (a.k.a Madame Butterfly) came to PBK to learn how to kitesurf with me, after spending just a short time together we became great friends!

She was a little shy at first but soon came out of her shell. Learning to kitesurf can be intimidating enough for adults let alone for a 10 year old girl but she did great!

There are so many new things to have to deal with when your learn to kite, for some people it's their first contact with a water sport and being out in the ocean can be a big deal to them. Not so for Madame Butterfly! After getting over her initial squeamishness of seaweed she was super confidant, a real natural in the water and at kiting!

Lisa was hooked on kiting right from day one and always hung around the kite centre, helping out where she could or practising on the kite simulator. We became really good friends after spending so much time together on and off the water. Laughing and joking all the time, trying out handstands and yoga on the beach.

We even hung out at a couple of the famous Paje by Night themed parties together! Dancing and laughing at everyone's weird and wonderful costumes.

During our kite lessons, we would hunt for star fish as we were body dragging, or go squid spotting on our way through the pass in between the two lagoons.

It was really sad to say goodbye to my new friend and favourite kite student at the end of her course but was happy in knowing that she left to go on an amazing adventure, to start a new life in Italy!

We're going to keep in touch and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one day we'll end up meeting again somewhere on a beach just as beautiful this one!
